ENCORE: Youth Ambassador Program
We are proud to announce the creation of our Youth Ambassador program – an opportunity for high school-aged creatives to serve as leaders in raising awareness and support for peacebuilding efforts around Foxborough. Ambassadors combine their passion for culture, journalism, arts, food, and media to bring new, youthful energy to a global peacebuilding movement. Youth Ambassadors explore critical leadership skills, such as putting impactful projects together, raising awareness for a cause, and creatively fundraising. Plus, they learn more about how a nonprofit organization functions and gain opportunities to connect with other youth leaders through mentorship opportunities. We are thrilled to be kicking off our pilot program in Fall 2021 with Ava Spitz of class of 2022. Ava will pilot the program’s theme ENCORE. We look forward to welcoming our first full class of Youth Ambassadors in November 2021. More information about applying to become a Youth Ambassador will be shared in the months ahead. As an ambassador, she will work with the organization to engage youth in conversations through reflective journaling, art work and actively voicing what needs to change . This platform will be for young people to come together from around Foxborough getting to know each other, sharing culture and creating ideas about how to make their community a better place. This extraordinary body of highly accomplished leaders – directors, educators, artists, authors, media-makers, alumni, boosters and more – has been formed to ensure that our programming is always of the highest caliber and is as inclusive and impactful as possible.
Most importantly, our Creatives’ Council will be in charge of providing after school enrichment opportunities and collaborations aimed at targeting healthy habits that will empower young girls.
The members of our Creatives’ Council hail from all around Foxborough, as far east as Summerfield and as far west as Normandy Farms. Individually, they have facilitated extraordinary opportunities for youth, coached teams, written compelling stories illuminating our town’s history and cared for the pre-k learners, and volunteered, to teach, to capture photographs, and more. Nominations for representatives to participate will be based on creating a diverse range of families, local artists, and underrepresented members of our community. While visiting my seventh grade English teacher, who also happens to be my aunt, she shared a collaboration that educators had documented and were willing to share. This complex project was inspiring and yet the authors were willing to share their work. Collaboration can be a threat in a competitive environment. If teachers feel confident and connected we are our best resources.
